Marcella Hazan’s Iconic Sauce
I love this recipe fort two reasons: It is literally 5 ingredients. And its the best.
Ingredients:
1 28oz can high quality whole San Marzano Tomatoes
1/2 an onion - you don’t even need to chop it up
2-3 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 sprig of basil
Simply add all the ingredients into a pot and simmer on medium low for 45 minutes, using a wooden spoon the crush the tomatoes as they cook.
That’s it. And it is that good. I use this sauce for meatballs, pasta, pizza even. It is just the perfect simple tomato sauce.
